Coaches and Instructors

  • team Raquel Nichols

    Coach / Owner

    CrossFit Level I Certified

As owner and head coach of CFM361- Raquel literally does it all. From working one-on-one with members and coaching classes, to managing the gym’s day-to-day operations and planning annual competition events, Raquel is a highly accomplished, multi-talented athlete and coach with seemingly endless amounts of energy and a true passion for CrossFit!

Raquel loves all things CFM361 – the physical and mental challenge of navigating through a WOD, the thrill of witnessing dramatic fitness transformations, and the unique sense of community and camaraderie at the box. She lives and breathes CFM361 and is absolutely committed to guiding others to achieve new levels of health and fitness improvement through CrossFit. She also understands the link between fitness and diet and teaches members how proper nutrition is a daily part of training, just as is completing the WOD.

Raquel is an excellent motivator, skilled mentor, and tremendous athlete who serves as living proof that women are capable of much more than they might think. When she’s not coaching a class or running the gym, Raquel loves to do double unders, burpees, and Oly lifts… Now what does that tell you about her?

  • team Jeremy Massey

    CrossFit Level I Certified

Jeremy grew up playing baseball and football in the small town of Manteno, Illinois and joined the Navy straight out of high school. In 2008, he became a firefighter at NAS Corpus Christi Fire & Rescue. Always up for a challenge- he helped initiate the Department of Defense’s first firefighter physical fitness standard program and began training for the Fire Combat Challenge. It was that training that led him straight to CrossFit.

He was drawn immediately to the box and its radically different approach to fitness. Gone were the limitations of a typical gym and a typical workout. CrossFit was all about real-world application and cross-training for a more complete and balanced physical state. You know, the kind of strength you need in the real-world!

Since joining CFM 361, Jeremy has accomplished great things as a CrossFitter- including 2 top 10 Male RX finishes at the CrossFit Laredo Summer and Winter Games and a 3rd place RX finish at our very own 1st Annual CrossFit Metro 361 Beach Wars.

Jeremy invites you to stop by the box and try a WOD for yourself—come experience what it feels like to be truly CrossFit.

  • team Tony Perez

    Assistant Coach

    CrossFit Level I Certified

Tony grew up here in Corpus Christi, Texas and joined the Corpus Christi Fire Department back in 2002. He is now a Captain at Fire Station #3 and is a member of the department's Special Operations Team. Tony credits CrossFit Metro 361 for his current level of physical fitness. He feels that there is no better programming that will prepare you for the job.

Tony caught CrossFit fever in August 2012, when CrossFit Metro 361 held a fundraiser event for an injured firefighter of the Corpus Christi Fire Department. He was hooked from the 3...2...1...GO! For Tony, the camaraderie at the fire station is very similar to the camaraderie at the box.

Tony has a passion for running and is an Austin and San Antonio Marathon Finisher. He believes that being physically fit does not have to be an uphill battle- it can be accomplished one day at a time by surrounding yourself with focused people who have similar fitness goals.

Take it from Tony, CrossFit produces results. CrossFit will make you Better, Faster, Stronger, Fitter, Swifter, Tougher, Greater!

  • team Valdemar Ozuna III

    Assistant Coach

Before CrossFit, Val was like most 20 year-olds—living the party life and paying for it. As he began gaining weight and watching his physique suffer- he knew it was time for a change.

He started at CrossFit 11th Parallel on Camp Lemonnier in Djibouti, Africa. He knew when he first arrived in Africa some kind of change would happen and boy did it. He fell in love with CrossFit immediately- with the WODs, the camaraderie, the CrossFit journal- everything. He had finally found a fitness regimen that really fueled his fire.

Back in the states, he found a home at CrossFit Metro 361. In the past year, he has watched his performance grow tremendously- he went from a 135# clean and jerk to a 225# clean and jerk in about two months!

He is currently training for a job in the medical field and spending every spare moment CrossFitting and prepping for this year’s Beach Wars. He encourages you to come join the family at CrossFit Metro 361 and experience the power of change for yourself.
